The Black Peter Group - It's fucked up.
I first met Gio-The Black Peter Group at SuperSuper Magazine's office in London and
went to a few gigs in the London clubs where Gio was performing. Then shot a
live video of him performing in a club called The Cock which was pretty funky.
He asked me to shoot a music video and we decided to use a song Gio had written called It's Fucked Up.
At the time it seemed like a prophesy of the George Bush war era, climate change,
the impending financial crisis and the general disillusionment. Gio and friends had a terrific club party
vibe plus fancy dress creating fun and humor to the underlying subject of the world falling apart.
So we shot the video over 2 days in a flat in Shoreditch London where Gio was staying.
We put up a blue screen background in the sitting room and set up the video lights
as best as possible in the limited space. Most of the video was shot on the blue screen
for the figures to be cut out for special effects. Some of it was shot in the back yard
only accessible if you climbed through the kitchen window and down some scaffolding.
We got the beer and munchies in and Gio's friends started arriving in their various
outfits for the video party shoot. We used a 2 camera setup to shoot this video.
